Restoring Ghana's Beaches and Waterbodies

Our mission is to clean up and maintain Ghana beaches and waterbodies using smart technological processes.

Facts

Every year, tons of plastic get into our beaches and other water bodies like rivers which leak into our oceans. Plastic leakage into Ghana’s waterbodies is projected to increase by 190% between 2020 and 2040 from approximately 78,000 tonnes per year to 228,000 tonnes per year.( Ghana National plastics action partnership, 2020). For uncollected plastics, leakage into the ocean is 31%. Rivers have been identified as a major pathway for plastic pollution entering the oceans (National Geographic, June 2018). If no action is taken to stop plastic from getting into the water bodies, it will increasingly affect our environment, health, and economies.

Our Approach

We, at BCG, get into partnership with various coastal municipality and district assemblies to run a cleaning and maintenance program for the beaches and waterbodies. Our goal is to efficiently clean rivers and drains to prevent plastic and other waste from secreting into the ocean. This we know adds value for the beaches whilst sustaining our vast marine ecosystem.

We uses advanced technologies to rid of plastic from the beaches and our water bodies in Ghana. Our mission is to clean up and maintain Ghana beaches and water bodies using smart Tech. And, to achieve this objective, we work hard not only to close the source of plastic but also regularly clean up the waste, which has already accumulated in the water bodies.

Our work aims to protect the natural environment. It is the key motivation behind the development of technology. We incessantly try to have a better understanding of the link between our technology and the environment to get the most positive result of our impact.
